The Cowboy in Us All

The Cowboy in Us All

Starting Double B Boot Company had been a dream of mine for years before its launch. As I step back and think about the progress we've made in the last two and a half years, it really makes me thankful. If you had told my twenty three year old self I'd be here today writing a post for my boot company I would say you were full of it. Praise the Lord I am though, and I cant thank all of our friends, family, and customers enough for getting us here.

I think about all the hard work and love that has gone into our boots. Right now it's 11pm on a Thursday night, and I'm just now sitting down at my desk to write this. Although not to complain, because I do think I do some of my best work at night.

I've been at our shop fulfilling orders and unboxing new inventory. On my drive back home, the song "Cowboy in Me" by Tim McGraw came on. I couldn't help but think of what that really meant. the lyrics go like this:

"The urge to run, the restlessnessThe heart of stone I sometimes getThe things I've done for foolish prideThe me that's never satisfiedThe face that's in the mirror when I don't like what I seeI guess that's just the cowboy in me"

Sometimes I ask myself "Am I a cowboy or am I just a man that wears cowboy boots?" But then I think, "What is a cowboy?"

A cowboy is someone who stands for what he believes in. A man who does whats right when no one is looking. Loves his family and friends.

I always thought my Dad was a cowboy growing up. He really was just a farmer who rode horses, but at the end of day the reason I think I thought that was because he was a man who I trusted with anything. He was and still is a guy who does right by his neighbor and is a God fearing man who doesn't let others mistake his kindness for weakness.

My dad is a cowboy and I think when we step back to think, there's a little cowboy in us all.
